Full-Time Teacher - Orange Co Conservation Corps.
Job Title: Government & Economics Teacher (Long Term Substitute)
Reports To: Lead Teacher
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

| Provides individual, small group, and classroom instruction to OCCC corpsmembers. Develops, implements, and provides a curriculum of instruction for Government and Economics that allows CMs to obtain their high school diploma. Works with charter school and OCCC staff to ensure the OCCC campus meets or exceeds all education related audit requirements and follows all charter school policies and procedures. Maintains all CMs education files, records, and paperwork, and completes monthly attendance and other reports as needed. Develops and provides additional strategies as needed to ensure OCCC CMs develop on an educational, professional, and personal level. Assist CMs in establishing educational and personal goals which may include pursuing some form of post-secondary instruction. Assists OCCC staff in delivering a life skills curriculum. Ensures the OCCC meets or exceeds CCC education certification requirements.

| This job has the responsibility to maintain and control CMs behavior and supervise CMs in various educational settings.

- Provide individual, small group, and classroom instruction
- Provide curriculum of instruction that complies with state and charter school requirements
- Develop and provide classroom materials to assist with instruction
- Develop and provide strategies to motivate and control student behavior
- Maintain all education files, records, and paperwork as needed
- Ensure accurate and timely reports are completed monthly or as needed
- Knowledgeable about legal issues relating to education
- Develop and maintain appropriate classroom policies and procedures
- Ensure staff and CMs follow all education policies and procedures
- Knowledge regarding the use of computers and educational software

| Bachelors Degree and a valid California teaching credential (Single Subject Social Studies or Multiple Subject).
|

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. | While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold/heat, and vibration normally associated when working in an office/warehouse environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:30pm Friday 8:00am-10:00am.
Teaching schedule is Monday -Thursday 8:00-12:00pm, 3:15pm -5:15pm, Friday 8:00am-10:00a.m.

This position will begin with a 2 month probationary period where the candidate will be classified as a long-term sub with no benefits. If the candidate is deemed a good fit, they will be re-classified as a full time employee with benefits after the 2 month probationary period ends and a full time salary will be negotiated.
Salary:
$25 - $35 per hour DOE.
