Resource Specialist Teacher - Los Angeles Area
The Nevada County Superintendent of Schools serves as the SELPA for MUIR Charters and Los Angeles Education Corp. within the greater Los Angeles basin and is seeking a full-time Resource Teacher for grades nine through age 22 years.  This position will be located in the Los Angeles area, This is an itinerant position located throughout the Los Angeles basin area, regular driving and travel is a requirement of the position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Instruct students assigned to the Resource Specialist program in those academic areas identified in the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) in accordance with California Education Code 56362.
  2. Evaluate student progress on a regular basis and maintain accurate and current records.
  3. Provide resource information, materials, and assistance to eligible students, their parents and the school staff. Provide consultation as appropriate.
  4. Process the referral of students, including assessments, for special education programs and services or forward referrals to the appropriate program administrator.
  5. Direct the Special Education Instructional Assistant in completing assigned tasks.
  6. Chair school IEP team meetings for the students referred to the Resource Specialist Teacher.
  7. Participate and assist in job related in-service education.
  8. Emphasize, at the secondary school level, academic achievement, career and vocational development programs, and preparation for adult life.
  9. Attend job related meetings and activities, specified by the school principal or the appropriate special education administrator; some of which may be held outside of the regular school day hours.
  10. Perform related non-instructional duties and responsibilities, including supervisory and advisory duties, as may be prescribed by the County Administrator.
Requirements for Application:
  1. Candidate must hold a valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with area of specialization in mild/moderate or a valid California Resource Specialist Credential, a copy must be provided with the application as an attachment.
  2. Applicant must have a current CLAD credential.
  3. Applicant must have a current Autism Authorization.
  4. Applicant must include three (3) letters of recommendation within one year
  5. Applicant must provide a letter of introduction and resume.

Salary and Benefits:
Step 1 $215.79 - Step 6 $274.10 Daily ($45,315-$57,561).  Full medical, dental and vision benefits.  This is a full time, year-round (12 month), 210 day contract position.
