Meet the JMCS Board of Directors

Stanton Miller is currently an educational consultant and Chair of the Board of Directors of John Muir Charter Schools.  He is also on the Board of the Nevada County Arts Council.  He is a field coach for teaching interns and coach for aspiring school administrators through Sacramento County Office of Education. Prior to retiring he was the Associate Superintendent for Educational Services for the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools. He was Superintendent of the Twin Ridges Elementary School District, which at that time had 11 charter schools throughout Northern California. He was a school principal for 20 years and a classroom teacher as well. He has also taught at the university level at Wilkes College (Fine Arts) and National University (Education). In addition, he is currently an exhibiting abstract painter.

Lennard Eckhardt is a retired educator from Colorado. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, and received his Master Degree from Western State Colorado University. He began his career teaching and coaching at the middle school level where he remained for two years and then at the high school level for the next nine years. The next 24 years he served as a principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent in the Garfield School District No. Re-2 in Rifle Colorado. During that period Rifle became one of the first districts in the nation to develop a comprehensive strategic plan that provided very specific goals and action plans designed to provide measurable educational outcomes for all students. He was instrumental in founding and serving as Chairman of the Colorado Surplus Asset Fund. CSAFE provided an investment vehicle for public entities in Colorado and upon his retirement in 2001 the fund was approaching one billion dollars in assets. He was member of the Colorado Association of School Executives and served on the Legislative Committee, was a presenter at the Aspen Institute, and the Colorado School Board Association’s annual meetings regarding current educational issues. Presently Mr. Eckhardt lives in Long Beach, Ca.

Michael Corbett is the owner of Michael Y. Corbett and Associates, a government relations firm that specializes in representing local government entities. Prior to forming his own lobbying firm, Michael served as a coordinating principal consultant for the Assembly Ways and Means Committee and then worked as an advocate for the California State Association of Counties. Michael earned his B.A. in Sociology from the University of California at Davis. He also holds an M.A. in Urban Studies from Occidental College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of California at Davis. His educational background includes lecturing in Applied Behavioral Sciences at U.C. Davis and teaching Political Science at Sacramento City College. He holds a community college teaching credential. Michael is appointed to the JMCS Governing Board by the California Conservation Corps.

Sallie is a retired education program consultant from the Ca. State Department of Education. She worked and was an appointee on former State Superintendent of Education Jack O’connels P-16 closing the achievement gap initiative. She also served as a district administrator for 24 schools with the Monterey USD. Sallie began her administrative career as a principal with Monterey USD. Sallie was a teacher Monterey USD, a Colorado Private catholic school, and government schools in Germany. She holds a BS in education from University of Colorado, with a minor in math. Additionally, she holds a dual masters degree in mathematics and music from University of San Francisco along with her teaching and administrative credentials.

Gil has extensive experience in administration, management and supervision of employment services, case management, and social services programs and development. Gil co-founded and served as president of the Premiere Weekend Club, a successful national non-profit organization that promotes positive images of Latinos and other minorities in film and other arts. Gil is appointed to the JMCS Governing Board by a coalition of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs served by JMCS.
