The young women and men of the Corps work hard protecting and restoring California's environment and responding to disasters, becoming stronger workers, citizens and individuals through their service.

 CCC MOTTO:

"Hard work, low pay, miserable conditions... and more!"

John Muir Charter School at the Camarillo CCC offers corpsmembers an educational program that makes a positive impact in the lives of our students, as well as the community.
At JMCS Camarillo we make it our aim to get to know each student, as well as their individual learning preferences. We then tailor our curriculum and teaching style to best fit the needs of our students. We emphasize one-on-one tutoring, with a special focus on algebra and writing skills. We also provide support and resources for passing the GED as part of the high school diploma curriculum. When students navigate through our program, they are amazed at how much they improve in a relatively short time, especially in math and writing.

The Camarillo CCC provides opportunities to work with Cal-Fire on fire crews, gain internships with CalTrans and the City of Camarillo, experience work on grade crews and have opportunities working in a kitchen for advancement in the Culinary Arts. Corpsmembers are also provided with leadership, Hazwopper, career development and conservation awareness training. In addition, they have the opportunity to earn certifications such as Chainsaw Specialist, HAZWOPER and various fire certifications. JMCS staff assists corpsmembers not only with their academics and earning their high school diploma but also with their promotion paperwork, careeer development curriculum and ASVAB readiness.
