| A School Within a School: John Muir Charter School at San Jose Job Corps | Top of Page |
An integral part of the overall San Jose Job Corps educational effort, John Muir Charter School fulfills its mission to "significantly improve the academic, vocational and life-skills of the young adults in...Job Corps programs through rigorous, individualized and caring instruction."
"Every Student Different/Every Student a Different Plan" speaks to the Muir philosophy of honoring a student's past accomplishments while planning for future success based on his/her needs, interests and learning styles. For fiscal 2007-08 we enrolled a running average of 30 students and graduated 31; this fiscal year with full WASC accreditation we plan on enrolling a running average of 55 students with 50 graduating.
Education is a moving target - conditions, funding, academic requirements and even teachers and students remain in constant change. And we at Muir, both on the San Jose Job Corps and throughout the 40 plus venues that we serve, celebrate the spirit of educational adventure and commitment to our students that is the hallmark of our organization.

John Muir Charter School has been providing educational services to San Jose Job Corps participants since 1999. There are usually 400 to 500 students, most of whom are on-site residents. The residential facilities provide trainees with housing, cafeteria, recreational and medical facilities.
