Conservation Corps North Bay and John Muir Charter School’s Youth Connections is a high school diploma, work readiness preparation, college and career mentoring, and entrepreneurial development program designed to predominantly support socioeconomically disadvantaged 17-24 year olds in Sonoma County. Through partnerships with CalSERVES, Sonoma County’s Energy & Sustainability Division (SCESD), John Jordan Foundation (JJF), and Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE), Youth Connections provides opportunities for young adults who are interested in pursuing academic goals to complete a high school diploma program through an alternative education model. Students gain skills to enter the workforce, pursue post-secondary education, and have access to entrepreneurship opportunities in the areas of small business development. Additionally, Youth Connections provides a broad range of support services including case management and counseling, financial literacy, social & behavioral health, parenting development, and transition support.

At Youth Connections, through our partnership with Conservation Corps North Bay, students are able to receive entrepreneurial certification with loan readiness access, IDA matches, and financial mentoring in micro-enterprise business development. We will also be incorporating StrengthsQuest curriculum into all facets of our programming. In addition to our occupational training with national and local certification, our program offers pre-apprentice training with the Plumber, Electrical and Sheet Metal Unions. Integrated into our diverse occupational experiences, we also provide various volunteering opportunities through service-learning projects that are tied to community and civic engagement.

Preparation for these incredible programs can be observed through our classroom activities and academic endeavors. We understand the importance of developing our students' skills in both written and verbal communication, collaboration, and we use an integrated curriculum that develops the hearts and minds of civically motivated and work ready individuals.

Our graduates leave Youth Connections committed to their community and confident in their strengths and abilities.
