MISSION
The California Conservation Corps engages young men and women in meaningful work, public service and educational activities that assist them in becoming more responsible citizens, while protecting and enhancing California’s environment, human resources and communities.
Chico CCC takes pride in the wide variety of work projects, SPIKES, special trainings and emergency responses that has made it renowned throughout the north state. It is uniquely situated near the Sacramento River, Lassen and Plumas National Forests, several State Parks and National Wildlife Reserves, Chico Bidwell Park, and the I-5 corridor. Crew Supervisors, the head of Corpsmember Development, and Recruiter are all former corpsmembers with a special ability to understand and lead program participants in the vocational and educational training that typifies this excellent center.

In early 2000, Chico CCC began as a one crew, small center. Chico is a non-residential Center that currently supports two crews. Our corpsmembers live in Chico and the surrounding communities of Paradise, Oroville, Gridley, Willows, Corning, and Orland.

Students attend John Muir Charter School in the late afternoons and early evenings after their normal eight hour work day. A special Education Day for all Chico corpsmembers is held once a month. The Site Director, CMD, and JMCS teacher plan Education Days in order to provide a variety of education experiences. Topics covered included health and safety, career education, ecology, blood drives, student government, civics, and vocational education.
