Marin
Conservation Corps has a wide variety of educational programs to meet the diverse
needs of the population we serve. Our Corpsmember population covers every demographic.
The goal is to empower each Corpsmember to move forward to the next level of
education and employability.
The JMCS students work on the Natural Resource Crews (NRC), or on the recycling
crew (CRC). All the crews get vocational training Monday through Thursday. Additionally,
the Field Ed Teachers and Supervisors join the crews in the field to provide
field lessons that integrate field work and academics. We also hold classes
after work Monday, Tuesday & Thursday.
Though Corpsmembers get education on a daily basis, both in the field and in
the classroom, Friday is "Education Day." During that time, corpsmembers
participate in classes in a more traditional setting, the subjects range from
academics to ESL to landscaping. This part of The Marin Conservation Corps education
program is open entry, and on average we do a new recruitment every 6 weeks. |
